Your Body Already Knows it

Do you really need me or a research paper to tell you that the environment above is healing? Your body already knows it.

I kinda feel this way about the sauna. This winter I’ve experienced just how effective and rejuvenating the sauna is.

If you’ve been following along on socials, you’ll know how much time I’ve spent in the sauna (followed by a cold dip in the sea- Point Lonsdale above 😍).

My favorite soul nourishing sauna to visit this Winter has been Hello Sauna. I've been visiting weekly for the last 3 months and it's quite literally my favorite time of the week. You can book your session here and follow them on socials here. SO much love for this place!

Studies have shown that sauna use can reduce muscle soreness and enhance recovery by dilating blood vessels & increasing circulation to help flush out metabolic waste and oxygenate muscles.

Studies have also shown that the sauna can help produce significantly greater flexibility gains, especially in the hamstrings and lower back.

AND in one study with trained athletes, 3 weeks of post-exercise sauna bathing resulted in approximately a 12% boost in time-to-exhaustion (TTE) and improved running speed at lactate threshold 🤯

There’s even some evidence to suggest that a series of sauna sessions can stimulate pathways that support muscle hypertrophy and increased muscle mass 💪🏽

Have I sold it well enough yet??

BUT…

Deep down, my body already knew.

I didn’t need a research paper to tell me that it was good for me.

That’s what keeps me going back- this innate, deep understanding that this is good for me, this makes me feel good.

I can feel it reduce cortisol (stress hormone) and release endorphins. I can feel it support deep mental relaxation. I can feel it fostering mind-body connection, easing muscle tension and contributing to my overall wellbeing 💜

Thanks science, but I felt it in my bones before I knew it was proven.

So my message today is this-

trust your gut.

Spend time doing what your body knows deep down is good for you.

Can you make a little time for it today?

If not the sauna or the beautiful ocean, maybe a peaceful corner in your garden or your home.

Whatever is possible for you today- take the time to nourish your nervous system and block out the noise. We all need it xx
